No Sunday Meetings

The possibility of race trials being held on Sundays is remote, says the secretary of the New Zealand Trotting Conference (Mr J. Rowley). “It is the policy of the Internal Affairs Department not to license race trials to be held on a Sunday," said Mr Rowley. “If any organisation goes ahead and runs such a meeting it could commit a breach of the Race Meetings Act, 1909, and a prosecution could follow.”

An official of the Internal Affairs Department yesterday told Mr Rowley that as far as he knew no race trials had been held on a Sunday. He expressed doubts whether any would be held.
