FIT TO PLAY

Soccer XI Named

The two injured players, K. France and R. Taylor, passed extensive fitness tests last evening and will play for Canterbury against Auckland in the English Trophy soccer final at Newmarket Park on Saturday. “I put them through the mill and both came through 100 per cent fit,” said the selector-coach, Mr F. C. Carter. France, the team captain, and Taylor had been suffering from knee injuries, but the swelling on their knees had now almost disappeared. However, neither K. Ouwerkerk nor A. Marshall were available to travel as reserves and Mr Carter has brought in the Christchurch City insideforward, J. Logue, as one of the two emergencies. The team is:

O. Nuttridge; A. Hawthorn, W. McKenna: A. Gowans. G. Griffiths, France; C. Rennie, P. Kay. Taylor. B. Wilkinson. F. Madrussen. Reserves: W. Weir, Logue.
