42 ACRES SOLD AT GOVERNOR’S BAY
Land comprising 42 acres 33.3 perches at Governors Bay was sold at auction yesterday for $14,000 by the land sales department of the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Association of Canterbury, Ltd. The Government valuation was $11,600. On the land, which belonged to Mr R. W. Loader, was a five-roomed cottage. The land is considered suitable for tomato and potato growing. At present 170 sheep are grazing on it About 20 persons attended the auction. Bidding began at 510,000 and rose in bids of $lOOO. The auctioneer was Mr C. S. Gibbs.
A two-storey property at 113 Rue Jolie, Akaroa, has been sold by public auction for $5lOO. It has six bedrooms and two living rooms. The section is 23 perches. It was told by Smiths City Market in conjunction with
Warwick Todd, estate agent. The auctioneer was Mr R, A. C. Smith. , A residence and two holiday flats, comprising four main rooms, at 70 Rue Jolie, Akaroa, were sold on Friday by public auction for $3900. The section was of 26.1 perches. The auctioneer was Mr D. R. Smith, of Smiths City Market An early bungalow at 96 Whincops Road, Halswell, comprising five main rooms and a kitchen, was sold by public auction for $2200 on Friday. The government valuation was $1950. The auctioneer was Mr R. A. C. Smith, of Smiths City Market A three-bedroom property at 27 Hinau Street, Fendalton, which was to have been auctioned tomorrow by Smiths City Market in conjunction with Matthew Robinson, estate agents, has been sold by private treaty for an undisclosed sum.
