The University of Waikato began last year teaching full-time co-ordinated courses of study in the Schools of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education. It occupies a site of about 125 acres on the outskirts of Hamilton. The academic organisation is based on schools of study rather than on faculties and departments. The development of postgraduate work and research is encouraged and conditions for study leave are favourable.
