CONFUSED ARRIVAL

Rowers But No Gear

(Special Crepdt. N.Z P.A ) ST. CATHARINE’S. New Zealand's rowing squad made a confused threepoint landing in Eastern Canada on Wednesday evening. The oarsmen arrived at the international rowing course at St. Catharine's, their Italian-built racing shell was located at Montreal, and the oars landed at Toronto, 75 miles from the rowing course. The team manager, Mr D. Croot, spent his first hours in Canada tracking down equipment. In the meantime, the coach, Mr R. Robertson, borrowed an Italian shell and oars for a training session in hot, humid weather. The Kiwis looked race fit. In their fourday Vancouver stop-over they trained with a university eight which was too slow for an effective race. Mr Robertson plans to train twice a day on the international rowing course—a one million dollar creation n the old Welland Canal.
