3000 Die From Smallpox

More than 3000 people have died of smallpox in the Manikganj district of Dacca in the last five months—and reports of more deaths are pouring in daily, says the Dacca “Morning News.” The Government Health Department has begun an inoculation scheme but was meeting indifference from village headmen and resistance among the poorly-educated villagers, the newspaper said.
