She comes to her best, quickly and goes well In wet footing. ” ■ i Bpudelaire was paired with Chesterman in a steady final trial for the Mariri Steeplechase. The horses worked up from the bottom of the straight and put on a little speed passing the mile. They were home from there in Imin Sgsee, but the pace was on only over the
last six furlongs which they ran In tog. Automaton and Javlon went out together and warmed up from the bottom of the straight. Then Javlon gave the mare a start approaching the- eix furlongs and finished on terms with her to clock imin 18sec tor the distance. It was good work on the part of both horses. Javlon has trained on well since his Wanganui win and Automaton appeals in the Te Aro Handicap. > Sir Blue was not after time In a mile gallop which completed his training for the Mariri Steeplechase. He clocked Imin 58 l-ssec and went evently throughout.
