Nelson XV Outplayed
(N.Z. Press Association) TIMARU. South Canterbury outplayed Nelson, 31-14, at Timaru yesterday. Trailing 8-0 over the initial stages. South Canterbury cracked on the pace to score 14 points in as many minutes before the interval. It kept up with the clock in the second half, increasing its lead to 28-8, but gave ground again before the close. For South Canterbury, L. King (two), W. Bell, S. Ryan, R. Halliday and N. Moffat scored tries, and A. R. Millar kicked a conversion and a dropped goal and B. McLauchlan two penalties and a conversion. The full-back, K. E. Helem, kicked two penalties, a dropped goal and a conversion, and R. G. Bowarter scored a try for Nelson.
