If you haven’t the correct change, offer a little more and get the right change. Continue to do this through the change-over. Sixpence and 5c are the lowest points where pence and cents coincide exactly—so, offer to the next highest 6d at least Say a bus far is 13c, offer a 2s coin (it’s also 20c) and you’ll get the right change, 7c. If something costs 4s Id, you could offer a new 50c coin (it’s 5s too) and you’ll get the right change, lid.
It’s the same with bank notes. Either 10s or one dollar could be offered for an 8s 4d purchase and you would get your right change. Is Bd.
