FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT

Situation.—A complex trough of low pressure lies over the Tasman Sea and New Zealand. Forecast:

Canterbury. Moderate southerly winds; cloudy and cool with occasional light rain at first but becoming partly cloudy later. Marlborough and Nelson.—South-east winds, fresh to strong about the Sounds but elsewhere moderate; cloudy and cool with some scattered light rain.

Buller and Westland.—Light variable winds; cloudy with some isolated showers at first but skies clearing from the south during the day; cool.

Outlook: All districts.—Fine.
