6 Satellites In Orbit

(N.Z P A.-Reuter—Copyright)

CAPE KENNEDY. July 2. The United States yesterday placed six communications and experimental satellites in orbit over the equator. The announcement came six hours and eight minutes after a 700-ton Titan 111 rocket soared into space from Cape Kennedy. The United States Air Force said all satellites were released almost exactly on time.

They were in a virtually perfect orbit nearly 21,000 miles from the earth. Signals had been received from all six satellites and they appeared to be working well.
