Silo Crops At Airport
(N.Z. Press Association)
HAMILTON, July 2.
A plan to silo farm Hamilton airport has been approved. It is the first such plan proposed for any airport in New Zealand.
The Hamilton Airport Committee has decided to call tenders for the use of the area adjacent to the runway for growing crops to be used in silo farming or zero grazing. The committee has received authority to go ahead with this plan from the Department of Civil Aviation.
Silo farming is increasing in popularity in parts of the Waikato. Instead of being grazed on pastures, stock is fed from food stored in large silos.
