Sought In Australia
A Christchurch man arrested in Sydney on a provisional warrant failed to appear in Court on Monday when extradition proceedings were to have been heard. The man is wanted on a charge of stealing £5OO from a bank in Christchurch.
Detective T. Watkins, of the Christchurch C. 1.8., flew to Australia after the man had been arrested. The man was remanded on bail to appear on Monday, and Detective Watkins was to have brought him back to Christchurch in custody if the Court granted the application for extradition. The man is believed to have left Australia. He was reported to have been seen in Singapore.
