14 Dismissed
Fourteen persons had been given notice by Suckling Bros. Ltd., footwear manufacturer, said the managing director of the company (Mr R. T. Doig) yesterday.
Dismissal of staff was a normal seasonal procedure, Mr Doig said. Those put off had come in for the rush of summer sales. At this time in 1965, 19 had been dismissed, and last year 11 had been put off. The dismissals had nothing to do with the economic situation.
