Ketch Murder Attempt Alleged
(Neto Zealand Press Association) KAITAIA, June 27. A charge of attempted murder was laid this evening against Neville Fineberg, aged 27, of Leeds, England, in the Kaitaia Hospital.
The charge, relating to an incident on the stolen yacht South Pacific on June 19,
was that Fineberg attempted to murder Wylie Hanby Roberts, jun.
Fineberg, who was represented by Mr C. A. Patterson, said he had nothing to sayother than that he was innocent of the charge. The charge was laid bySenior Detective Sergeant L. F. O’Shea.
It is expected there will be a Court sitting at the hospital about 10 a.m. tomorrow when the police are likely to seek a rem’nri Mr P. A. Williams, of Auckland, who represented Roberts when statements were made on Friday evening and Saturday morning before a Justice of the Peace at Kaitaia Hospital, is in Kaitaia at present. Police are guarding the two men. They have been in the surgical ward since they were taken off the Tongariro last week after the vessel had found the South Pacific.
