Church, Hall Combined
A hall seating 5001 and equipped to serve as a church was opened in Cotswold avenue. Bishopdale, yesterday by the Roman Catholic Bishop of .Christchurch (the Most Rev. P. B. Ashby). The sanctuary area at one end of the church has an altar and can be cut off by doors from the rest of the building when not required for such services, said the Rev. J. Curnow, the parish priest
The building cost £22,000 and the furnishings £5OOO. The hall will be used for church meetings and religious instruction, and will also be available for general community functions. A planned giving appeal for £30,000 to pay for the building and provide for future development has received pledges of more than that amount.
