INDONESIAN ELECTIONS

Ban On New Parties (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) DJAKARTA, May 25. The Indonesian Government has refused demands by members of political parties banned by the former President, Dr. Sukarno, to form new parties to fight the country’s 1968 elections. A Government statement broadcast last night said members of the dissolved parties “have the right to elect and be elected.” But it added that elements of the dissolved political parties would only be allowed to participate individually in the struggle to establish the "new order” associated with Acting-President Suharto through political parties already in existence. The two main parties involved are the once-powerful

Musjumi Moslem Party and the Indonesian Socialist Party, both of which are banned.
