INVERCARGILL. The Canterbury player, D. Welham, will play L. Johns (Southland) today for a place in the final of the under-16 girls’ singles in a tennis tournament at Riversdale.

Results of Canterbury players in yesterday's matches were:— Under-16.— Boys’ doubles: F. Versteeg and K. Lewis (Canterbury) beat P. Stevens and A. Stewart (Southland), 9-6. Girls’ doubles: K. Davey (Canterbury) and P. Thompson (Southland) lost to B. Rennie (Otago) and D. Brun (Southland), 9-8. Under 17.—Boys’ singles: J. Versteeg lost to J. Ellis (Southland). Under-19.—Boys’ doubles: K. Lewis and F. Versteeg beat B. Stewart and P. Stevens, 9-4. Girls’ doubles: B. Nurse and B. Welham (Canterbury) lost to J. Roy and K. Johns (Southland), 6-5, 6-2 Mixed doubles: J. A. Stewart (Southland) and B. Welham (Canterbury) lost to J. Steel and C. Matheson (Southland). 9-5.
