SHORTER TOUR

CN.Z.P.A.-Reut«r — Copyright) LONDON.

The Australian cricket tour of England next summer will be two to three weeks shorter than previous visits. This is at the request of the Australians, said Mr D. B. Carr, assistant secretary of the M.C.C., when he announced the fixtures.

The opening first-class game against Worcestershire begins on Wednesday, May 8, a week later than usual, and the fifth test at the Oval is the closing fixture. Previously the Australians have taken part in festival games after the final test. Another innovation is that the Australians will not play both Oxford and Cambridge Universities, but instead will play a combined team from those universities.
