PLOUGHING CONTEST
New Judging System
A new system of judging will be tried at the 14th world ploughing contest which will begin at Prebbleton-Broad-field on Friday. Five judges will assess the stubble ploughing on Friday and another five judges will review the grassland ploughing on Saturday. The judges on each day will work collectively and they will be accompanied by a steward who will collect the points. As a result, only one card will be made out each day. This should greatly reduce the amount of work that has normally to be done at the end of judging at a match when the points of a number of judges working separately have to be calculated. At the last world contest every country represented had a judge and these judges were divided into two groups —each group judged part of the ploughing each day. Mr D. J. Stewart, of Rakala, will be a member of the fiveman panel which will judge the grassland ploughing on Saturday.
