Irish Ploughmen Entertained

Three Irishmen in Christchurch for the world ploughing contest had to travel halfway around the world before they met the winner of last year’s “Rose of Tralee” beauty contest, Miss Laraine Stollery, of Christchurch. Miss Stollery, who won the title from contestants from all parts of the world at the judging in Ireland, was present at an informal welcome to Messrs S. O’Farrell, J. Murphy, and M. White at the Christchurch Irish Society Hall last evening. The men were welcomed by the president of the society (Mr M. Maunsell) and were entertained with Irish national dancing, music, and other items.
