PRE-CUT HOUSES
Australian Market Bid (N.Z. Press Association) TAURANGA, May 8. An attempt to break into the Australian market with pre-fabricated houses is being made by Beazley Homes, Ltd., of Mount Maunganui. An 1100 sq. ft., packaged home is being loaded on to the freighter Koranui today at Mount Maunganui for Brisbane where it will be shown at a house exhibition. The house will be under the supervision of Mr B. Beazley who is in Brisbane investigating the market The general manager of the company (Mr J. D. Boyd) said the firm’s homes would be entering a tough market but he felt they would compete very favourably with Australian homes. The home would be the first one the company had exported, he said. If the company were successful in its attempt in breaking into the market, future homes would be pre-cut in New Zealand and shipped in packages to Brisbane for assembly by one of its own builders.
