Rail-Car Late

The West Coast rail-car arrived 26 minutes late last night because of speed restrictions between Greymouth and Otira. Due to arrive at 11.5 p.m., the rail-car arrived at Christchurch at 11.31 p.m. The weather on the West Coast had damaged some parts of the tracks and while repairs are being made restrictions have been imposed. The rail-car, which had four units, ran on three motors instead of the usual four for the latter part of the journey, because of a mechanical failure. The power of the rail-car was not affected.
