P.M. Seeks Loan

WELLINGTON, April 14. Talks will be held in Washington next week on the possibility of New Zealand obtaining a loan from the International Monetary Fund to meet the temporary loss of export income from wool. Announcing this in a statement today, the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said he would meet the I.M.F/S man-aging-director (Mr Schweit) to discuss New Zealand’s economic position. "I will discuss with him aspects of the New Zealand economy and the current balance of payments situation — including the possibility of assistance in meeting the temporary loss of export income from the depressed state of the market for wool,” be said.
