NATIONAL AWARD
Chch House Design (N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, April 13. The design of the arts and library building of the Victoria University of Wellington has won the Institute of Architects’ gold medal for the firm of Kingston, Reynolds, Thom and Allardice. The national awards were announced today at the in‘■♦itute’s conference at Queenstown. No entries were received for the silver medal section but the bronze medal was awarded to D. A. and L. Chrystall, for the house of Mr and Mrs Yock, in Remuera, Auckland. The national award of i merit went to D; A. Cowey land McGregor for the house of Mr and Mrs J. G. Power, in Fendalton, Christchurch. The jury of awards said that this house was a skilful elaboration of house and courtyards, which transformed a restricted site with no outlook into an exceptionally liveable domain.
