SCUBA TRAINING FOR ASTRONAUTS.—As floating under water in scuba gear is considered the closest thing to being weightless in outer space, 22 United States astronauts are taking this training at the naval base in Key West, Florida. The veteran astronaut of Gemini flights V and IX, Charles Conrad, is shown checking his gear before a dive (top) and leading a flight of some of the men taking the training in the officers’ club pool.
