The Animals
Sir, —We were exasperated after reading the exaggerated report on the Animals’ show. Why not send an unbiased young reporter instead of someone prejudiced against pop shows? His incorrect statements and flowery descriptions were ridiculous. His vivid imagination described Eric Burdon as a “twitching, screaming heap." Although small and agile, Eric was never in such a state. Dave Dee did not “leap screaming into the audience,” but jumped into the aisle: and the “striped pyjamas” of the Euphonies lead singer were in reality well-tailored trousers and shirt. The reference to this singer’s arm in plaster was unnecessary and unfair. His lack of interest was obvious when “Bend It” was called “Bandit” and “Mamma Keep Your Big Mouth Shut” called “Keep On” or “Keep Your Big Mouth Shut.” Talent should be encouraged and credit given when due, so those uninterested in pops should stay home and listen to Vera Lynn.—Yours, etc., FED-UP FANS.
