Parcels For Troops The executive of the Christchurch Returned Services’ Association last evening decided to seek the co-opera-tion of its sub-branches throughout Canterbury in raising money to send to Dominion headquarters for the purchase of parcels to send to New Zealand troops in Malaysia and Vietnam. In the past these financial efforts have been left to individual branches and sub-branches. The executive felt a combined appeal for funds was preferable. Blenheim Road The Transport Department did not support the International Harvester Company’s request for a 30 m.p.h. speed restriction over the limited speed zone- of Blenheim road, Cr. E. C. Britnell told the Paparua County Council last night. The council agreed to take no action in the meantime.

Long Service Mr J. Robb, the county overseer, was among the guests at a gathering yesterday afternoon to mark the inaugural meeting of the new Malvern County Council, comprising the amalgamated Malvern and Tawera countries. Mr Robb has been with the Malvern council for 40 years, and has served under every chairman of the council since it was constituted in 1911.
