PUBLIC NOTICES DESIGNATION OF RESERVE FOR PROPOSED TECHNICAL INSTITUTE REQUIREMENT BY MINISTER OF WORKS PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that the Minister of Works has served on the Christchurch City Council a notice pursuant to Section 21 (7) of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1953, requiring all that land described in the Schedule hereto to be designated in the Christchurch City Council's Operative District Scheme as “Reserve for Government Purposes (Proposed Technical Institute).” The properties required to be designated are situated on the corner of Madras street and Moorhouse avenue adjoining the existing Christchurch Polytechnic Institute and are known as 120 Madras street and 375 Moorhouse avenue. It is intended that this requirement will be formally incorporated into the District Scheme by the Council at the next five yearly review of the Scheme (the District Scheme becomes due for review on April 1, 1967). Notice is given that 8.21 (8) of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1953, provides, inter alia, that pending the Incorporation of this requirement in the District Scheme, no person shall without the consent of the Minister construct or make or carry out any structure or excavation or other work on this land, or carry out any subdivision of this land, or make any change of use of this land or any building thereon that would be contrary to the provisions of the District Scheme had the requirement been incorporated in the District Scheme immediately the requirement was made. The Minister’s requirement is available for inspection at the City Engineer’s Office, 166 Gloucester street, Christchurch.
