Teen-age Gang Sentenced

(N.Z. Press Assn .—Copyright) SAN JOSE (California), April 9. Six teen-age members of a gang who killed a Roman Catholic priest and another victim were sentenced on Friday to life imprisonment. United Press International reported. The victims of the gang killings were the Rev. John Cox, aged 31, an assistant pastor, and Mr Eugene Silva, a warehouseman. The youths, aged 18 to 20, were charged with crimes ranging from first degree murder to conspiracy to commit murder and theft Mr Silva was beaten to death in a secluded orchard and robbed of five dollars. The priest was waylaid by one of the gang who posed as a hitch-hiker. He was beaten with an iron pipe and died 10 hours later in hospital after being robbed of 60 dollars.
