Official Report And Prices

The official report issued by the South Canterbury Woolbrokers’ Association, in conjunction with the New Zealand woolbuyers' Association and the New Zealand Wool Commission after the final sale of the season at Timaru yesterday, said:— "The fifth and final wool sale of the 1966-1967 season was held today, when 20,552 bales were offered at auction. "The bulk of the offering comprised strong and medium crossbred ewe fleece, wltlcb, although of fair colour, contained many Lines showing weakness of staple and cottlness. The balance of the display was made up of a fairly large selection ot lambs' fleece and second-shear. Both these descriptions were lighter In condition than usual, with the lambs’ wool showing a stronger edge. The offering of fine wools was a very limited one. Skirtings on offer were a typical end-of-season selection. "The market for medium and strong crossbreds and secondshear can be quoted as unchanged. Combing lambs were tending in buyers’ favour. A limited quantity of fine wools was available and although good, average style lines were nominally flrm, poorer descriptions were irregular of sale and slightly cheaper. "Most competition came from the Continent, with some support from Japan. Bradford was again quiet. The Wool Commission gave strong support during the day. with 48 per cent being passed to them. "Prompt date tor the sale is April 27. The following lb the range ot prices:— d. d. Merino, 60/84'e and M’s—
