THE PINK COCKATOO is the loveliest of the group of 11 species of cockatoos inhabiting Australia. It is a bird of pale pink and white plumage, with rose in the wings and tail feathers; added to this attractive combination of tints is the yellow-banded, crimson, light pink, and white crest. The pair in this picture are seen in a typical nesting site, a roomy hollow in a tree. The picture is from “Australian Birds in Colour,’* a magnificent selection from nature’s beauties made by the noted Australian ornithologist, Keith Hindwood. Excellent colour-printing was done in Japan. The publishers are A. H. and A. W. Reed.
