‘Diary’ Of Wife (N.Z. Preet Assn. —Copyright) LONDON, March 13. The British director, Miss Joan Littlewood, plans to stage a dramatised version of “Mrs Wilson’s Diary” at the Theatre Workshop at Stratford East, London, the “Sunday Times” said yesterday. The play will be based on a fictional “diary” of the wife of the British Prime Minister, written by Richard Ingrams and John, Wells, which appears fortnightly in the satirical magazine “Private Eye.” It will follow a production of “Macbird,” an American satire on President Johnson, which was refused a licence by the Lord Chamberlain In the diary play, songs based on actual poetry writ? ten by Mrs Wilson and others will be sung in a George Formby style by “Mr Wilson” accompanied by himself on the banjo.
