Tobin Bronze Second (Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.AJ MELBOURNE. The New Zealand-bred Melbourne and Caulfield Cups winner Galilee beat his arch rival Tobin Bronze in the Queens Plate at Flemington on Saturday. Galilee started at 10 to 9 and landed a huge plunge by beating Tobin Bronze (8 to 11 favourite) by one length and a half, with the New Zealand-bred Prince Grant (16 to 1) six lengths away third. Another New Zealand-bred, Blue Special (125 to 1) completed the field. Punters demonstrated against Tobin Bronze’s rider, J. Johnson.

They booed and jeered Johnson for his handling of the favourite, and one threw a crumpled race-book, which hit the jockey on the head. Another Alcimedes colt. Blow Hard, a three-year-old out of Bellows, provided a surprise in the Flemington Handicap (seven furlongs). Blow Hard (25 to 1) won by a head from another New Zea-land-bred, Baltic Boy (6 to 1), with All High (9 to 2) one length and a half away third.
