Central Java Fighting

'N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SINGAPORE, March 9.

Units of the Indonesian Army crushed an uprising by heavily armed Communists in fighting in Central Java, Radio Djakarta has reported. It said the leader of the Communist force and 80 of his followers were killed. Central Java is a stronghold of forces loyal to President Sukarno who bitterly oppose the current efforts to strip Dr. Sukarno of his title and try him for treason.
