LEAGUE TRIAL

Rarely have footballers had to endure heat such as that encountered on the second day of the Rugby league coaching school at Baisweil Domain yesterday. In spite of this great disadvantage, all players entered into the spirit of the school, and it was obvious that they were quick to see the merits of the new rules under which the game will be played this season. Good Attendance The numbers attending were high. On Saturday nearly 60 players were present and yesterday there were over 40. Yesterday the players were able to put into practice what they had been taught on Saturday and a match was played using the new rules. Some soon learned that what applied in past seasons will be valueless from now on, and it is certain that as the season progresses coaches and players are going to adapt types of play that were missing from the game before. More Kicking In what was seen yesterday Rugby league followers will be certain of seeing the ball being moved freely this year and, what is more, they will also see much more kicking. The Canterbury grade# coaches, Messrs D. L. Blanchard, E. Butts, H. Walker, and C. Paskell, were present, as was the national advisory coach. Mr C. R. Mountford.
