McMurdo Fires

Only 10 fires were reported at McMurdo Station during the summer support season in the Antarctic this year. AU were extinguished in the shortest time and with the minimum of damage. The fire crew of three at McMurdo Station makes fire Inspections monthly to ensure that all automatic fire alarms function and that not too much waste material accumulates. The main trouble for fires has been in equipment workshops where oil soaked floors create a hazard.
