Police Top Marksmen

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. New Zealand’s Army, Navy and Air Force yesterday took a back seat as the Police took control of the Trentham rifle range. Invited to compete in the inter-service shoot for the first time, the Police team scored 486 out of a possible 525 to win the Colvern Cup. The scores for the Colvern Cup were: Police 486, Army 481, Air Force 477, Navy 463. Three marksmen featured in a three-way tie for the service championship. In the shoot-off, D. J. Caughley beat I. J. Spry and G. Berman.

Turned Professional. The Commonwealth Games gold medal cyclist, H. Porter, of Britain, has turned professional.
