BACKWARD CHILDREN
Course For Teachers
About 25 teachers from all parts of New Zealand, who will attend a special training course at Templeton Farm helping handicapped children, will have an opportunity to meet the parents of some of the children at a meeting arranged by the Intellectually Handicapped Children’s Society. The meeting will be held on Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the society’s centre in Worcester street.
The president of the society (Mr C. H. G. Curragh) said yesterday that the course, which would be the second to be held at Templeton, would be run by the Education Board, and the Health Department
Mr Curragh said that the first course last year had been “very successful.”
Ocean Race.—The Whangarel-to-Noumea yacht race haa drawn 48 entries. If this total crosses the line on April IS when the race begins, It will be the largest fleet ever to have contested an ocean yacht race in the Southern Hemisphere. Last year's Sydney-to-Hobart race had 47 starters.
