WOOL PRICE OPTIMISM
(N.Z.P. A. -Reuter—Copyright)
WASHINGTON, February 24.
World raw wool prices will move slightly higher in the coming months,
extending the rallying trend seen since late January, according to the United
States Agriculture Department.
In its latest situation report, released today, the departency in current prices was likely to assist in more buying against future requirements.
This would occur in a supply situation little changed from last year because smaller carry-over stocks would offset most of the expected increase in 1966-67 world production. As far as the United States was concerned, the department expected little change this year in dutiable wool imports from the 163 million lb imported in 1966. At the same time <lt pre-
dieted that United States imports of duty-free raw wool SHP back from the 1966 total of 115 million lb, which topped the previous year by 5 per cent.
