(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, Feb. 7.

Yesterday the retail price of bacon increased by 6d a pound and the price of ham went up by Is a pound. A spokesman for the New Zealand Association of Bacon Curers said today that the high prices were a result of a shortage of pigs. Since November there has been an over-all increase of 4d a pound in the price paid to pig-farmers, he said. It was estimated that the shortage would last about two years.
