INDONESIAN ECONOMY
Investments Needed
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) DJAKARTA Jan. 22. The Indonesian Minister of Finance (Mr Frans Seda) said yesterday Indonesia has more credit offers than it can use, and now needs foreign investments to realise its economic recovery. Mr Seda spoke in connexion with next month's meeting in Amsterdam of Indonesia’s creditor nations. The meeting is to discuss fresh credits for Indonesia, which is still struggling under chaotic economic conditions. This meeting will differ from the creditor nations’ meeting in Paris in December which was primarily to discuss Indonesia’s debt repayments. Mr Seda said discussions are under way on how to utilise systematically the credits already extended. He said no fresh credits would be accepted until after the Amsterdam meeting.
