‘Nobbling’ Scare In Perth
(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) PERTH. Unprecedented precautions will be taken in Perth against horse “nobbiers” before and during the Inter-Dominion Trotting Championships, next month.
This is after the sensational doping of two racehorses and the attempted doping of a third horse during the Christmas racing carnival. Fearful that the doping may discourage New Zealand and eastern states owners from taking their horses to Perth for the championships, the West Australian Trotting Association and the Breeders, Owners, Trainers and Reins-
men’s Association have decided to spare no effort to protect horses. Visiting owners and trainers will be asked to place a special armed guard on their charges from the moment they arrive in Perth. West Australian trainers who have made arrangements to stable visiting pacers will be asked to take security measures to ensure that nothing happens to the horses.
