SHOOTERS GO IN

Big Waipiti Campaign f.N.Z. Pr«*» Awoeiotion) INVERCARGILL, Dec. 28. The first 50 of a party of 80 deerstalkers were taken by boat or Cessna float plane to their blocks in the waipiti area in Fiordland today. The area extends from George sound in the south to north of the northern tip of Lake Te Anau. Fiordland National Park Board officials hope that the present campaign will cull the present waipiti herd to stop excessive breeding and to improve trophy values. The campaign is more extensive than one held in late October.
