First Celebration

New Zealand will be the first country to celebrate the start of Canada’s 100th year as a self-governing Dominion on New Year’s Day. In Wellington, both St. Paul’s Cathedral and the National War Memorial will ring peals at midnight on New Year’s Eve —several hours ahead of the thousands of celebrations planned in Canada. The bells of St Paul’s usually herald in the New Year but for this occasion an extra ringing will be arranged.—(P.S.S.)
