Access To Minutes
Sir, —Before a special meeting of the Waiau Citizens’ Association, as the mover of a notice of motion, I requested permission to see the minute books of the annual and quarterly meetings of the association to verify certain facts arising from the notice of motion. Permission was refused, and I want to know if this refusal is the usual procedure in associations of this type. At the annual meeting of the association in August, 1964, an executive committee comprising chairman, deputy-chairman, secre-tary-treasurer, and two committee members was elected to deal with matters arising between quarterly meetings. Naturally no request was made to see any minutes taken at these executive committee meetings. I stated at the subsequent special meeting that I would seek advice on this matter.—Yours, etc., EILEEN MACFARLANE. Waiau, November 30,1966.
This letter was referred to the Waiau Citizens’ Association but no reply has been received.
