Gars, a fancied candidate for the President’s Handicap at Wingatui, was the most impressive trialist at Invercargill yesterday morning. Accompanied by Lorastan, Gars worked over six furlongs in Imin 16 l-ssec, the first four in 49sec, and they were eased down over the last furlongs, to run the last half mile in 51 4-5 sec.

Segundo and Ronda were paired over a round, sprinting the last six furlongs in Imin 19 4-ssec, the last half in 56sec, and both were under a firm hold. Segundo will be ridden by D. N. Hadfield at Wingatui.
