BRABHAM WILL RACE IN N.Z.
(New Zealand Press Association)
AUCKLAND.
The manager of the New Zealand Grand Prix, Mr R. W. A. Frost, yesterday denied a Sydney report that the world champion driver, J. Brabham, might miss the New Zealand section of the Tasman Cup international motor racing series in the New Year.
“There is no doubt whatever about Brabham racing here,” said Mr Frost, who had spoken to the Australian dri-
ver by telephone earlier in the week.
The Sydney report also quoted the secretary of the Australian Automobile Racing Club, Mr G. Sykes, as saying that a former world champion driver, G. Hill, would miss the Tasman series. Mr Frost said that the door was still open for Hill to take part “It depends if we can get him a Lotus,” he added. Hill, who was originally to have come to New Zealand and Australia for the B.R.M. team, has switched to Lotus for the coming season. The only Lotus coming to New Zealand is to be driven by J. Clark, the No. 1 driver for the team.
