Crowd Riots At Soccer

Fifty-one spectators were injured when the Rio de Janeiro soccer championship final ended in a riot on Monday.

Henrique, of Flamengo, fouled Ladiera, of Bangua, and a running fight developed between players, photographers, reporters, officials and police. One Flamengo supporter, listening at home to a radio commentary on the match, was reported to have shot himself in the chest and was rushed to hospital gravely injured. Real Madrid, the European Cup holders, has been fined 2000 Swiss francs because of bottle-throwing incidents at its ground during a match against Penarol, of Uruguay, for the unofficial world club championship on October -6. it was announced in Berne on Monday.
