Help For The Handicapped
Sir,—The comprehensive article by Peggy Buchanan telling of the trials and needs of the physically handicapped in the South Island should bring some action, long overdue. Responsibilities realised should stimulate public authorities, private groups, and every person. Many may die in discomfort for lack of proper care. Causes of ailments now known or being investigated include forms of prenatal origin, radiation, drugs, and wrong feeding habits. Many may be preventable. The numbers affected should grow fewer, not less, but hostels will be required for many.—Yours, etc., WHY LAG? December 20, 1966.
